Good morning World Travelers! I need your help! I'm planning our next Group Trip. I need some recommendations. We've done the cruises. We've done the resorts in the Caribbean. I'm looking for someplace different, someplace exciting, someplace exhilarating, someplace MEMORABLE... I don't mind doing a cruise again or even the Islands as long as the place offers something different... So please send me your recommendations and if you have a picture of the place, post that as well. Thanks!

It included RT Airfare, RT Transfers, Hotel, and all Meals & Drinks. Needless to say, the trip was FANTABULOUS! See for yourself...
Thanks to Simmonds Walters Keroline, today I had the privilege of speaking at the Federal Drug Administration’s (FDA) Black History Month Program. I spoke about the history of “The Negro Motorist Green Book and the Afro-American Traveler Today”. For those of you who enjoy Afro-American History and in celebration of our last day of Black History Month, here’s an excerpt of my presentation.
During the Jim Crow Era travel for the Afro-American was difficult to say the least. Jim Crow laws were state and local laws enforcing racial segregation in the Southern United States. These laws mandated the segregation of public schools, public places, and public transportation. Thus, traveling for blacks was challenging and often dangerous.
However, during the early 1930’s, although racial discrimination and black poverty limited car ownership, there was an emerging Afro-American middle class that bought cars as soon as they could. They wanted to avoid the humiliation of segregation on public transportation. In addition, they had a desire to travel and see the world.
In 1936, a man by the name of Victor Hugo Green was instrumental in changing the course of history and the way Afro Americans traveled. Victor Green was a mailman living in a predominantly black neighborhood in Harlem during the 1930’s. In response to the discrimination against Afro-American Travelers, in 1936, Victor Green published his first travel guide for Afro-Americans, entitled “The Negro Motorist Green Book”; often referred to as simply “The Green Book”.
The Green Book identified businesses in the New York Area, such as gas stations, lodgings and restaurants that were “Black Friendly”. These establishments were willing to serve the Afro-American population while taking advantage of the economic benefits of providing services to them.
Because of the Book’s continued success, Victor Green expanded The Green Book to cover much of North America, including most of the United States and parts of Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
The Green book was published from 1936 to 1966. However, the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited racial segregation in public facilities, started to influence the sales of The Green Book; as result the last book was published in 1966.
Victor Green looked forward to and prophetically spoke of this day; to quote him: "There will be a day sometime in the near future when this guide will not have to be published. That is when we as a race will have equal opportunities and privileges in the United States. It will be a great day for us to suspend this publication for then we can go as we please, and without embarrassment."
The Afro-American Traveler today, per Black Business.org, spends 40 Billion dollars a year on travel and tourism. In October 2015, Time Magazine Online published an article entitled “How Black Millennials are Changing the Face of Travel”. An excerpt from the article reads, “The increase in income and education, the rise of social media, and a generation of tech- savvy millennials, are all coming together to create what's being called THE BLACK TRAVEL MOVEMENT. weareonthemove
