There are two types of travelers: the ones who enjoy waking up early to explore and the ones who prefer to sleep in. Which category do you fall into?

At our place, the cozy vibes start before you even step inside.

[10/11/20]   Jack's Place is the second cabin built on our property in the early 1980's. Jack Thomas was a Norfolk, Virginia public school principal when he purchased Annie Carr’s cabin in the early 1970s. He tried roughing it for a while but ultimately decided that a more modern dwelling was more suitable to his needs.

Jack's Place was completely remodeled in February 2014. The newly-refurbished cabin features a beautiful, comfortable living area that has a sofa, a large comfortable rocking chair and a TV with a DVD player for watching movies if you desire to bring any. It has both heating and air conditioning.

The entire kitchen has been upgraded with brand new appliances. There is a full-size refrigerator, a gas stove, oven, and all other small appliances such as a coffee maker and microwave. There is also plenty of cabinet space. A dining table and four chairs are provided. Basic pots, pans, and tableware are provided.

The upstairs bedroom features a double bed, nightstand, lamp, a chest of drawers, and a beautiful antique mirror. Bed linens, blankets, and pillows are provided. Off of the bedroom, there is a private bathroom with a brand new tub/shower combination as well as a granite topped vanity. Guest towels are provided. The staircase to the loft is very steep and is not recommended for older guests or the very young. The loft has a catwalk down the middle of the roofline and a small sleeping area at each end. A double bed is located on both sides of the upper loft.

The Cabins at Crabtree Falls

Annie's Cabin is the oldest cabin on our property, and it's roots can be traced back to 1798. Originally owned by the nephew of Thomas Jefferson, Peter Carr, this authentic Appalachian log cabin has been renovated and modernized to add some creature comforts while still maintaining its rustic mountain cabin appeal. Annie’s Cabin sleeps 5 people comfortably, and has a cozy kitchen with a small farm table, a living area complete with plenty of seating, and a warm gas furnace for those chilly days. For those that want to pop in a movie and cuddle up by the furnace, there's a TV and DVD player as well.

Outside, there's a front porch with rocking chairs that allow you to enjoy the fresh mountain air, and the sound of the Tye River rushing along. In front of the cabin, there's a stone firepit, picnic table, and additional seating to get more of a taste of the simple life.
