Local day and evening exclusive excursions for the curious-minded Cultivate your curiosity while building community. With its outpost in Northeast Ohio, Field Trips for Grownups and your tour guide Julie Cristal plans and organizes short day and evening activities that will take you outside of your stuck-in-the-rut comfort zone, with tailored, exclusive – and fun! – group excursions for the curious-minded.

Trips you just can’t experience by showing up at the door. From museums and manufacturing facilities, to nonprofits and academic lectures on current events — the possibilities are endless. Just go to fieldtripsforgrownups.com to peruse upcoming trips and click to reserve your spot on a first-come, first-served basis. Quantities will vary based on each excursion. Some excursions will be intimate with just a handful of people, and others will call for much larger groups. If you have any ideas or connections for upcoming trips, please visit the "submit trip ideas" page to submit them. No idea is dumb! We need your voice. And be sure to "subscribe" to ensure you are notified when new trips are announced. (To continue the conversation, be sure to visit our field notes / blog to read about and comment on prior trips. I know it's early, but wanted to send a "teaser"on the wings of a great Indians' season about a field trip I'm planning for mid-April, partnering with the Baseball Heritage Museum and League Park.

We will visit the museum -- a collection celebrating baseball's diversity passionately cultivated over the years by Bob Zimmer -- and we will be treated to a special exhibit on the history of the baseball card, both as a promotional tool AND the artistic inspirations behind it.

We'll also be treated to a talk on "Women in Baseball" and visit League Park next door, which the City of Cleveland recently restored and where some of baseball's greatest first stepped on the field.

Look for this event in mid April, (shortly after Opening Day) 5:30-7:30pm, with heavy appetizers and cocktails!

Sneak peak of an upcoming exciting May 3 Field Trip which will have very limited capacity.....
This dress belonged to Helen Einstein Bing (yes, she was a cousin of Albert) who was my husband's great grandmother. It is French, and she wore it to the wedding of her daughter Marion Bing to EJ "Red" Garson in 1929.
By then, she had been widowed many years. Her husband and his brother were involved in the Bing Furniture Company, a long time regional furniture company.
After her husband died young and left her with three small children, she did not curl up and fade into the sunset. She never remarried, but she remained a strong, interesting, vibrant woman.
Her dress will be part of an exhibit called "The Wow Factor: 150 Years of Bold Clothes" at the Western Reserve Historical Society which will showcase 15 decades of bold style. Visitors will learn about the women behind the clothes and explore in detail the fabrics, construction and embellishments that make these objects the jewels of the collection.
Field Trips for Grownups, LLC has partnered with the historical society for an exclusive tour by Patrician Edmonson. Patricia is the museum's Advisory Council Curator of Costume and Textiles. She cares for the costume collection and curates exhibitions at the Cleveland History Center. Prior to joining the CHC, she was part of the team who created the interactive Gallery One at the Cleveland Museum of Art. She has also worked in the American Wing and the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she helped process the Brooklyn Museum of Art's costume collection gift. Her research has been published in the journal American Furniture and she is currently authoring a chapter about 20th-century interior design professional organizations for a volume published by Routledge. She is active in the fields of museums and technology and visitor engagement, and as a member of the Costume Society of America.
So we will get her all to ourselves. AND then we will enjoy a catered lunch in the decadent Hanna Library at the adjoining Bingham-Hanna Mansion which was built around 1918.
Look for tickets to go on sale in March! Can't wait for this one!
