Previous to the beautiful bridge shown here, the original bridge that stood in its place was a single arch. It had been built so hastily it couldn't sustain passing traffic's weight, resulting in the bridge collapsing. Now, Puente Nuevo is the largest and newest of three bridges in Ronda, Spain. Construction on the 100-meter deep bridge began in 1759 and took 34 years. The architect turned the new bridge into a work of art. It has since become Spain's most photographed bridge.
