The Abbeville Film & Visitors Commission (AFVC) was founded in 2008 with the goal of promoting film, television, and video production in Abbeville, Louisiana and Vermilion Parish.
AFVC is a government entity funded through tax dollars that is overseen by a board comprised of five commissioners: Dianna Ducote, Debbie Garrot, Gale Luquette, Ted Luquette, and Tony Mayard.
Mission: To promote film, video, television, and web media production in Abbeville and its surrounding area by assisting filmmakers in optimizing their production experience in a comfortable and welcomed atmosphere and through these efforts stimulating economic growth and visitor development.

December 6, 2014 - Farmers' Christmas Market - Magdalen Square - 8AM TO 1PM. Come and share the spirit of the Christmas Season with us under the magnificent Oaks of Magdalen Square. The children and young adults of LA Kids, Inc., a non profit organization, will be singing Christmas Carols in the Gazebo from 8AM until 12:30PM. Madeline Guilbeau, a member of LA Kids, will be opening our Market with the National Anthem. Jr. Auxiliary will be selling beautiful Poinsettias as their Christmas Fund Raiser to help the children of Vermilion Parish. I am expecting the Square to be filled with our hardworking, gifted, dedicated vendors. They will be selling produce, eggs, canned foods, barbeque sauce, baked breads, variety of sweets including fudge, doggie treats, bath salts/soaps, candles, jewelry, knitted and crotched items, headbands, bows, wood crafts and such much more.
TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE: There are interesting stories to be told this Friday night. Bundle up and come learn about life in Abbeville in the late 1880's. Tickets still on sale at the Depot. For more information call 337-652-2239.
It's that time again, everyone...the Vermilion Parish Library will be hosting the 20th Annual Scare on the Square on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2014.
The Library & Abbeville Main Street have teamed again up to make this year even bigger and better than before so all of you who wish to have a great time Trick or Treating, come out and visit those businesses that have the "Scare on the Square" ORANGE SIGNS displayed showing participation.
Also, there will be Matthew Noel with his magic and Rhythm & Soul with their hip-hop dancing along with the all important Costume Contest!!!
Registration & Judging for the costume contest will be from 4:30 to 5:45 pm and Winners will be announced between 5:45 & 6:15.
