Any time of the year is a perfect time to visit Aruba, which is outside of the hurricane belt and enjoys magnificent trade winds year-round.

While there are new dining options cropping up on the island all of the time, one of our favorites is a quaint little restaurant owned by a father and son who only serve 15 guests per evening. Once we have booked you to Aruba let us make a reservation for you at Gasparitos.

[10/27/17]   Escape Travelers, what island would get your vote as the best in 2017? And why?

Here is yet another reason to book a trip to Scandinavia: an underwater restaurant on Norway's southern coast, about five hours southwest of Oslo. Dubbed "Europe’s very first underwater restaurant" the appropriately-named Under will be half-sunken some 16 feet into the sea, with a 36-foot wide, ocean-floor-to-ceiling acrylic window to allow diners views of the sea life.

Under will also serve as a marine research center. The reef's inhabitants will clean the seawater around the restaurant, helping diners see the sea life more clearly and hopefully attracting more marine life. WHO WANTS TO BE FIRST?!

Summer in the Fall got you ready to cool down? We've got the solution... Email us at [email protected] for additional booking information.

[10/05/17]   TRAVELING TO CUBA

Excerpt from the Inside Travel Report

On Sept. 29, 2017, the U.S. State Department issued a Cuba Travel Warning as a result of some unidentified attacks against numerous U.S. Embassy employees. The alleged incidents appear to be isolated to specific residences and rooms occupied by individual employees of the U.S. Embassy. Both governments are working to uncover the mystery of these incidents and the U.S. Embassy in Havana remains open to serve U.S. citizens. But the U.S. also expelled 15 Cuban diplomats.

Now Cuba Travel Services (CTS) is responding that it does not see any reason to believe these alleged incidents pose any danger whatsoever to those traveling to Cuba. In a briefing just last month, the State Department spokeswomen said the incidents were not ongoing.

CTS said none of the 600,000 U.S. citizens or residents who visited Cuba last year, nor the nearly 500,000 who visited this year have been effected by the alleged incident. "Cuba remains one of the safest destinations in the world for American travelers," said Michael Zuccato general manager of CTS. " independently assesses the risk of travel for over 100 cities around the world and has determined Cuba is generally a safe country with almost no violent crimes, organized gang culture, teenage delinquency, drugs or dangerous zones.”

Many in the travel industry carefully assess and track State Department travel warnings because customers' safety the first priority. The Cuba travel warning includes the entire country and is in direct contrast to other travel warnings and alerts, which normally address a specific region or city section.

Some have dismissed the warning claiming they are motivated by Florida politics which have long influenced U.S.-Cuba relations. American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines and JetBlue are all planning to operate as normal. In addition to the long list of airlines, cruise lines and tour operators continue to arrange travel to Cuba without interruption.

“Cuba Travel Services regularly conducts thorough and comprehensive inspections of its select hotels and excursions in efforts to ensure a safe, secure and rewarding experience for our travelers," said Zuccato. "Just last week an additional inspection was completed in Havana (post Hurricane Irma) and the services were certified safe for travelers."

Michael Goren, president and CEO of Group IST, which introduced small ship cruising people-to-people programs in Cuba in 2013, and now operates Cuba programs under the BeyondCruises by Group IST brand, said Cuba is still one of the safest destinations for American visitors, as well as for all travelers. “There is no hostility toward American visitors by the Cuban people,” he said. “In fact, the opposite is true. The Cuban people are extremely welcoming to the American travelers.” - James Shillinglaw, Travel Journalist

[07/29/17]   TSA Now Requires All Electronics 'Larger Than a Cell Phone' to be Removed from Carry-Ons

Even though people are having to take more out of their bags, the TSA says lines won't get any longer.

If the tediousness of airport security riles you up, take a seat for this news, as changes to the screening process just officially got worse. According to a press statement from the Transportation Security Administration, a new rule will require passengers traveling in U.S. airports to remove "all electronics larger than a cell phone" from carry-on bags for X-ray screenings in standard security lanes, similar to the longstanding process with laptop computers. Previously, the TSA had tested the measure at ten U.S. airports, but today's announcement begins the screening procedure's nationwide expansion over the course of the "weeks and months ahead."

“By separating personal electronic items such as laptops, tablets, e-readers and handheld game consoles for screening, TSA officers can more closely focus on resolving alarms and stopping terror threats,” said Acting TSA Administrator Huban A. Gowadia.

It's important to note the new policy does not affect what items travelers can bring through security, including food and 3-1-1-liquid-compliant bags. Today's announcement also stated that books would be allowed in carry-on bags, whereas during the testing phase, TSA agents asked passengers to remove books and sometimes magazines, too—which even led to a dust-up last weekend in San Diego where United Airlines erroneously told passengers they couldn't put comic books in their checked bags.

Additionally, passengers enrolled in TSA Precheck will have further reason to celebrate, as the new, firmer policies will not affect passengers TSA has already deemed low-risk.

Despite the flood of news surrounding the policy change, TSA officials have previously said the new screening procedures have been in the works for two years, and are unrelated to the recently ended electronics ban; rather, they are part of continuously developing counterterrorism and efficiency efforts. Given that passengers are packing their carry-ons to the brim, TSA officials say it can often take longer to discern what's a threat—and what's not. By removing items from bags, the agency says, its screeners can scan items more quickly and reduce the number of manual bag checks, thus expediting the process for everyone.
