Update: The Flood Warning for the area expired at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon and has not been succeeded by any further flooding notice from the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service Flood Warning for the Resurrection Bay area continues as rivers and streams overflow, roadways are flooding, and rainfall is on track for at least a 2 inch total in places for Friday.

So far, almost 5 inches have fallen in Bear Creek at a Questa Woods weather station since Wednesday.

The City of Seward Public Works weather station shows almost 4 inches total for the same period. A Dora Way weather station is about the same.

Alaska SeaLife Center

Earlier in the week, the juvenile elephant seal that has been frequenting the Seward area, was relocated outside of Resurrection Bay. She beached on a construction zone near the Seward boat harbor so our team needed to move her to a safer place. Our hope was she would stay in this secluded area to finish the rest of her molt, however, she has returned to Seward. We ask people to give her plenty of space and please call 1-888-774-SEAL if you spot her in public areas.
