Luke Beard had an epic day off from work today! This might be the biggest shark I’ve ever seen him catch. Luke caught and released this Hammerhead Shark at Ramp 49 here in Frisco.
Ribbonfish, despite having a terrifying appearance and intimidating sharp teeth, is an incredibly tasty fish that should not be overlooked.
It has been said that it resembles flounder in taste, and some even prefer it over flounder! Its narrow body and thin fillet would lead many anglers to believe these are not worth keeping due to the small yield and lack of meat, however the taste along with the amazing health benefits make this underutilized fish shine.
In addition to being a very calorie dense fish (packing 350 calories into a 100 gram serving) it is also amazing for human heart health. Ribbonfish contains omega-3, DHA, and EPA oils that can improve the circulation of blood in the body which prevents the formation of thrombosis, or the clotting of blood inside the blood vessels.
Ended the year with a nice catch of seabass for Seth and his family. A bit foggy on the ride out, but it cleared up for a nice day on the water.
There is still time to get that white Christmas (or any of our other colors) Use code ELF15 for 15% off site wide through December 25th. .
Yesterday, I took Chris, his son and two friends to the wrecks. They went home with a limit of black sea bass and three nice flounder. Had a few tussles with the dogfish, but not too bad.
Juan and his family with just a few of our limit of bluelines yesterday.
Had a beautiful but windy day on the water today. Lots of dolphins and sea turtles, but only a few fish. We scratched out a couple of false albacore.
Late report from the weekend. We ran a full day on Saturday and two half day trips on Sunday. Two of the trips were military members from a helo squadron and from USS Stennis. Everyone had a great time, we never got rained on, and all took home plenty of meat.
Had a great day today jigging for ribbonfish with a party of three. We didn't take many photos, and this one does not do justice to the catch...There were about 75 fish in this large cooler.
Another great day on the water with a limit of blueline tilefish and a nice haul of seabass. There were four anglers onboard. Kelly Hoggard couldn’t be in the photo as he got called away to tow in a disabled boater.
We had a great day offshore today with goldens, bluelines, black bellied rosefish, black sea bass and a couple of hake. Lots of pilot whales, including several tending their babies.
Today was a bit windy, but Sam and his family caught their fill of ribbonfish. The local bottlenose dolphin put on a nice show for us on the way back in.
Saturday, July 17 we tried a few wrecks for flounder and seabass. They didn't cooperate, but the ribbonfish did.
Two great trips yesterday. In the morning, Joe and two buddies got their fill of ribbons and spanish. In the afternoon, Mary, her niece and nephews had a great time with the ribbons.
Had a great day deep-dropping with a father and son team today. They got a limit of blueline tilefish, a couple of goldens, some hake and some jumbo seabass. Great day on the water.
Juan and his crew came to go deep dropping and they went home with a limit of nice sized blueline tilefish yesterday. Great day on the water.
Tough day fishing today. We were only able to scratch out one bluefish for Michelle and her crew. Many boats didn't even do that. We did, however, rescue a kite surfer who lost his kite a half mile offshore. We saw his kite go down, but didn't see him get up. When we checked on him, he was okay, but would have had a very long swim back to shore. Glad to have helped out.
Had a great day in the deep prospecting for gold on a nice calm day. They fought off the smooth dogfish most of the day - kept a few to eat. Spiny and Smooth dogfish are really tasty. Ended the day with a dozen tilefish, ten dogfish, six blackbellied rosefish and an eel. Had a sunfish swim under the boat, and saw a great white shark.
No Blueline Tilefish or Black Seabass as season is closed for both. Blueline opens back up on May 1, and Seabass on May 15th. Booking trips now.
Great day on the wrecks yesterday with Chuck, Kelly and Drew. Limit of chunky black seabass with some bonus flounder and a red drum. They were so hungry that we caught two seabass on one jig!

2020.
These two Navy sailors toughed out some rain and wind, but we got several ribbonfish and a king mackerel. On our way back, the dolphins put on quite a show off of Fort Story.
Had a great day with Kelly, Robert, John and Patty. Got a limit of nice bluelines, then some big goldens and a lone black bellied rosefish. Had to come in a bit early due to storms, but we still had a box full of fish.
The Spanish Mackerel cooperated today for James and his family. Jocelyn caught the biggest at just under four pounds. Pretty day on the water with lots of dolphins and rays keeping us company.
Great day on the water, but the fishing was a bit slow for Daniel, Owen and the rest of their crew. We did get one king mackerel and one Spanish.
Another great day today. Michelle treated her husband and son to a half day charter. We ended up with 23 nice ribbonfish and a lonely spanish mackerel.
Greg, Pat, Ethan, Tim and Chuck fished yesterday. We ended up with twenty ribbonfish, a couple of spanish mackerel and a king mackerel. Wonderful day on the water!
Had another great deep-drop trip today. Robert and his crew came home with a limit of blueline tilefish, several golden tiles and close to fifty black seabass.
We had a great day with blueline and golden tilefish today with Kelly, Ike, David and Brian.

Charter operations are currently prohibited until at least June 10. I am currently taking reservations for the period beginning on July 1 and I will not require a deposit to hold the date. I will require my normal deposit of 50% as the scheduled date approaches.
Thank you, and stay safe!
I haven't posted anything about coronavirus until now, due to all of the uncertainty around the situation. The owners of my marina just made the decision to close down all of their properties. I'm cautiously optimistic and still booking for the summer, but like everyone else, don't know exactly what the future holds. Of course any booking made will be fully refunded if this disease keeps us from going. Meanwhile, everybody stay safe - stay healthy. This will pass.
