If you are FLYING anywhere this month or the next few months ,
on ANY airline…Please have grace, kindness, and patience!!

Pack snacks and sandwiches , bring a refillable water container, portable charger for your phone, a deck of cards or UNO, download extra movies on iPad, if you have wireless headsets also bring old school plug in type, bring a light blanket, go to the airport 1 extra hour earlier than you would have, bring your patience, and a mask. If you must travel with kids, go to Dollar Store and buy new toys they have never seen, give them these during delays. You can also buy the blow up arm floaties, to use as pillow or lumbar support for your back. Small portable fan or paper fan. A tennis ball to use to massage you aches.

Airlines DON’T supply pillows or blankets anymore. There is limited food onboard to buy or give, usually there is not enough beverages for 2nds.
Fill your water bottle in airport, or buy a bottle. There is not enough bottled water onboard to fill your container, nor are we allowed to fill it. Bring snacks!!!!!

If you are booked on last flight of the day, be prepared that you might end up spending the night in airport.

*******Do NOT check your medicine or keys in your luggage.

Bring a Pen!! You may have to fill out forms, or need to write down info.

I have NEVER seen it this crazy! Every airline is short staffed, gate agents are working alone at gates for oversold flights, the wait times to get through to reservations are 3+ hours. Restaurants and stores can’t get people to work. Super long lines everywhere. LOTS of mechanical issues, weather, staffing issues NONE of which is due to frontline employees calling in sick as reported. They are as frustrated as you are. They are EXHAUSTED! This has been happening to them EVERYDAY for over a month, with no relief insight.

So I am asking you to BE VERY KIND TO EVERYONE.

Don’t bring your pets if you don’t have to.

This is our thing. Seems some people fall into a pattern when taking photos. Here’s ours: the from a distance, semi casual, usually silly, family selfie. Our favorites are at National park signs and “welcome to” signs. It’s our “signature” photo. Do you have a “typical” photo style?

The Richardson highway from Fairbanks to Valdez was covered in long stretches of road work. We had to wait for 30-60 minutes for the opposite side to make their way through, being led by the pilot car. Then the pilot car jumps in front is our side and we trek through the unpaved road, bumps and mud and sheer drops galore! It was quite the, ahem, experience. However we were rewarded on the end! This is Horsetail Falls just outside of Valdez. One of a series of beautiful roadside waterfalls. Alaska.

Y’all should try some glacier water. It’s goooood. I took my wonky jointed self out onto a glacier today complete with hiking polls, crampons, and rock helmet. Hiked for 2 hours and about 2 miles. Needless to say, my sacroiliac joint is done with me but boy did we enjoy! More later. Sleeeeeep

Happy Easter from the #goldenisles of Georgia. We are big travelers but have resisted much over the past year for our own sake and for the sake of others. Let us help in containing this spread. Well with most of us vaccinated, we headed down to Georgia to see much loved family we’ve longed to see. We kept our distance, still ordered takeout from restaurants, etc. This short trip has made me so very happy!

To celebrate the blooming #cherryblossoms, I did my version of Japanese tonight with my version of a sushi burrito! Avocado, baked salmon, smoked salmon, cucumber, lettuce, seaweed, cream cheese on a low carb tortilla. Oh and a little #furikake!
