Want to improve your photography?
Eddie Soloway conducts group photography
trips with Esprit Travel and Tours.

Here is conducting his own 4 part webinar on "The Joy of Nature Photography"

Eyes Wide Open – The Joy of Nature Photography
4-part webinar – Tuesdays June 9, 16, 23 & Friday June 26 – 3:00pm-4:00pm (MT) – All 4 sessions – $79.00
Plus an option for a private image review – Additional $99.00

"Give yourself a treat—four rich photographic sessions—to honor your creative self. Bring back the joy and wonder of being in nature, and holding a camera in your hand. Learn how to make pictures that soar past postcards, and capture what you are feeling, what you are seeing, and what you are thinking. Eddie will make you laugh when he shows you his first “art” show, using examples from the early days to illustrate what he didn’t understand. Looking at the work of world class photographers, he kept asking, “How Come Mine Don’t Look Like That?” Digging back into his mistakes—his “good ones” at the time—he will lay out simple ideas to understand light, avoid chaos, create beautiful backgrounds, lead the eye with thoughtful compositions, and understand that if there is magic, work It, hang out, and slow down. His sessions will honor the classic landscape, giving you ideas to make it fresh and your own, and he will whole-heartedly dive into the interpretive landscape, celebrating the mindset of breaking out of your box, and making new photographs. The sessions will swim in the creative, but honor the thoughtful. Get ready for ideas to set you free, to shake you out of ruts, and charge you up to make new photographs, right now."

See this article about our food tour with Andrew Bender last year!

"Osaka was on our itinerary a year ago on a trip to Japan, but I didn’t do any research about what to see or do there. Fortunately Andy Bender, a tour guide and planner with Esprit Travel &Tours, gave us a couple of suggestions that turned out to be fabulous."

Welcome to Buaiso | Japan Living Arts by Steve Beimel

Want to travel from your couch?

Esprit's founder, Steve Beimel, recently posted this entry by Gail Rieke about a workshop with Buaisou, farmers and artists in remote Tokushima. Gail and Esprit planned a wonderful trip for her group last fall, where they explored the islands and coastlines of Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku.

Steve's blog, Japan Living Arts is a great source for ideas for dreaming about your next Japan trip!

Welcome to Buaiso | Japan Living Arts by Steve Beimel On November 15, 2019 our group of travelers had the great privilege of taking an indigo workshop at Buaiso's home in Tokushima We were welcomed by the young farmers, dyers and business associates who served us lunch and indigo tea. Kakuo Kaji then showed us various methods of resist dyeing and we fo...

When the time is right, we look forward to helping you plan your dream trip to Japan.
Meanwhile, please stay well!

03/24/2020

For the time being, we are staying put in our offices in Las Vegas, Telluride, Kyoto, and Tokyo. For those of you who had to postpone your trip to Japan this spring, we are glad that you have decided to reschedule. If you have been thinking about planning a trip to Japan, we look forward to helping you plan your dream trip when the time is right! If Esprit Travel planned your Japan trip, we would love to hear about a favorite moment or place - tell us a story or post a photo. Meanwhile, please enjoy this photo of cherry blossoms in Kyoto. And, stay healthy everyone!

03/12/2020

On September 11, 2001, almost 3,000 Americans were killed within hours of the start of the worst terrorist attacks in modern history that changed the travel industry forever. On March 11, 2011, almost 20,000 Japanese were killed within 30 minutes in the Great Tohoku earthquake and the tsunami the followed. These events give us pause to reflect, in our current situation, about the power of people to deal with any adversity and the indomitable spirit of the human heart as we seek answers and guidance.

While we at Esprit do not really know how things will progress over the next few weeks and months as the world comes to terms with the current global disease threat, we do know one thing. We know that travel to Japan will always be a way to engage with the strength, inherent humanity and rich cultural heritage of a proud and welcoming people. We know that the Japanese will continue to persevere in the face of all obstacles put in their way. We know they will seek solace in one of their national symbols, the cherry blossom, that blooms for so short a time and conveys the fragility of life to remind us that this too, shall pass.

While this cherry blossom season is turning out so differently than we had all hoped, we take comfort in the fact that nature is still bringing us these symbols of ethereal beauty, whether we are there to see them or not.

Warm regards,

Elaine, Nancy and all of Esprit's Japan and US based staff
