Almost ready for another season! CSR has always taken good care of me. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a touch dissatisfied this time, but I know they always make it right. Nothing but amazing people who actually care about doing good work.
We have another wind storm coming up Thursday according to the national weather service.
Just a reminder to make sure your boat, floatation devices and accessories are tied and secure. Clear any items you might have on the dock to reduce trip hazards or blowing debris. You might consider helping to secure items at your neighbors boat as well.
In the event of a power outage, you may want to inspect your boat and breakers once the power is restored.

The Blue Angels are here! The Navy's aerobatic team is arriving at Boeing Field ahead of this weekend's Boeing Seafair Show over Lake Washington.

A few years ago, Skipping Town ended up in SEA magazine by chance. A photo of my boat going through the locks showed up in a story about another boat. I thought that was pretty cool.
My friend, Miguel, was heading to Alaska with his wife. They were flipping through Alaska Beyond magazine and there was a story about Victoria in it. He had to stop because he noticed our entire yacht club showed up in the photo. The picture is from Emerald Rose Yacht Club’s first cruise to Victoria three years ago. My boat is clearly seen on the left side of the dock furthest away from the camera. The rest of our club are to the right on the outside of the dock. Crazy timing!
Poor generator. She only had 19.9 hours on her and had an error code when I tried to start her. I opened the water pump and sure enough, she had shredded. I don’t use my generator often and that can cause the water to drain out and for impellers to dry out. This is why maintenance schedule says you should start the generator and run it frequently. Lesson learned. But the impeller has been replaced, all pieces of the old impeller are accounted for, and she’s purring like a kitten again — just in time to let the A/C run while on the hook over the hot weekend!
Got my vessel safety check! Good to not be harassed for another year.

[06/22/17] Well, the weather is beautiful so that M/V Skipping Town had to make a showing at Kirkland Marina again. She will be here for the weekend to enjoy the sun!
Skipping Town has passed her 5th Vessel Safety check in 5 years.
What an amazing morning! Gorgeous outside. The water is glass. The long weekend entices us all. I'll be at the dock for sure this weekend.
Skipping Town is back to the Kirkland Public Marina where she will likely stay for the weekend. I've had to make some adjustments to how I normally tie up and fender off due to the water height in Lake Washington.
To that point, fixed-height docks and floating boats in a marina without any breakwater is a bad plan. It's an old dock in desperate need of replacing. I wish Kirkland, WA - Government would consider improving this dock since they keep upping the rate to stay overnight.
If they are going to charge on par with the likes of the Port of Everett, Bell Harbor Marina, and the like, they need to provide similar amenities: floating docks, breakwater, shore power and water at each slip, pump-out, fuel, clubhouse, showers, restrooms that are open 24/7, security, dock hands that help you tie up, the ability to keep your spot once you've paid for it, someone listening on the radio so you can communicate with them, docks that aren't falling apart literally with each perilous step you take. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head.
That's what my moorage fees get me elsewhere. Why makes Kirkland so special?
Photo from July 2nd, 2016. Seattle Skipper took M/V Skipping Town stayed in Port of Everett Marina, Hat Island Marina, and Whidbey Island. We managed to make it back to Downtown Kirkland Waterfront in time to watch the fireworks for July 4th!
Skipping Town has spent the last few days in downtown Kirkland Marina. However, after a few fun-filled days with friends, she had to be taken back to her regular slip today due to winds.
She sustained some minor damage to the rub rail on the starboard side swim platform as the fenders must have gotten kicked up during the storm. With the water as high as it is, it's easy for fenders to get hung up on the dock.
This is the first time this has ever happened -- particularly with her large cruise-ship sized fenders deployed. Lessons learned, I suppose.
