The City of Gulf Shores will celebrate the Fourth of July with a stunning fireworks display, beginning at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. Fireworks will be shot from the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier.

The timeline of public access to the Gulf State Park Pier on Sunday, July 4, is as follows:
• 7 a.m. – The Gulf State Park Pier will close to the public for firework setup.
• 12 p.m. – The pier will reopen to the public 100 feet north of the firework launch site.
• 8:30 p.m. – The Fire Marshal will close the pier and on-site restaurant.
• 9 p.m. – The fireworks show begins.
• 6 a.m., Monday, July 5 – Pier reopens to the public.

For information related to the schedule of operations for the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier, please call (251) 967-3474.

The City of Gulf Shores wishes you and your family a safe Fourth of July. As a reminder, discharging fireworks within the corporate limits of the City of Gulf Shores is prohibited without a permit. Please contact the Gulf Shores Fire Marshal at (251) 968-4292 for more information on fireworks permits.

Photos from Village By The Gulf Resort's post 02/02/2021

We have good news! We will be reopening Village by the Gulf in stages over the next month and a half.

All four buildings had extensive roof damage that resulted in the roof being replaced. So far, buildings A and B have been repaired with building C still undergoing work. In addition to the roof damages, unit interiors and common areas needed various repairs.

We are happy to announce that we will have a soft opening this weekend, Friday, February 5th for reservations already in place and then a larger opening the following weekend, Friday, February 12th. We will have the pool and BBQ area open and hope to have the office area open as well. Barring any complications with the work being done on building C, we hope to open it on Friday, March 5th.

We greatly appreciate everyone's patience during this time and can't wait to welcome you back to Village by the Gulf.

If you are arriving in the next few months please be aware that the Gulf Shores area is still recovering from the hurricane but we are beginning to see more and more businesses reopening.

We hope you're staying healthy and safe this holiday season. Merry Christmas!

12/09/2020

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to Gulf Shores when the property is ready and we appreciate your patience. In the meantime, Beverly took this beautiful photo to share with everyone who is missing our beach sunsets.

[12/02/20]   Due to the extent of the Hurricane Sally related damages, insurance process, securing contractors and City of Gulf Shores requirements, the property will remain closed until Friday, February 5, 2021.

We are working as quickly as we can to ready the property to welcome you back. There are also on-going repairs throughout the City of Gulf Shores to businesses, attractions and properties that were damaged in the storm.

We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your understanding as we overcome the challenges that 2020 have brought.

11/26/2020

We are forever thankful for all our owners, guests and followers and hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe this holiday season.

We are still working on getting your resort ready for your next visit. We will let you all know when we will reopen.

Village By The Gulf Resort

An Update from Village by the Gulf:
Given the extent of the damages both exterior and interior requiring repairs, we do not anticipate being able to welcome owners and guests back to Village by the Gulf until Friday, December 4, 2020 at the earliest.

We are working on contacting all reservations, both owner and rental guests, that are scheduled to arrive between now and December 4th. If you have any questions about your upcoming reservation please call our reservations department at (877) 223-5174.

We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding and support.

Due to extensive damages at Village by the Gulf caused by Hurricane Sally and with additional storms heading our way, the property will be closed until Friday, October 30, 2020.

Please be patient as our team works through contacting all upcoming reservations. If you do not have a reservation in the month of October we ask that you refrain from calling at this time so we can work through this large number of phone calls.

Please note many local merchants, restaurants, attractions, hotels and condominiums are closed as well.

We appreciate your understanding and are doing all we can to reopen.

We would like to extend a huge 'Thank You!' to everyone who has shown so much support over the last week and a half since Hurricane Sally came through Gulf Shores.
Unfortunately, Village by the Gulf experienced some damages that will prevent us from welcoming any owners or guests back until October 16th at the earliest. If you had a reservation in the coming weeks you should have already been contacted, if not please give our reservations department a call at (877) 223-5174.
The Gulf Shores area is working through extensive damage as well. A large portion of the main pier was destroyed and the City has implemented curfews and non-resident restrictions.
We appreciate everyone's support and patience during this time. We will post additional updates as we know more.

09/22/2020

[09/18/20]   We appreciate the thoughts and prayers expressed during Hurricane Sally. We are pleased to report that all team members are safe and the owners/guests evacuated prior to the storm.

Unfortunately, Gulf Shores and Village by the Gulf were in the direct path of Hurricane Sally. The property did receive damage to the buildings, recreation area and perimeter fencing. We are still without power and water at this time.

Sadly, we will not be able to welcome owners and guests until Saturday, September 26th at the earliest due to the local visitor restrictions.

City of Gulf Shores - Municipal Government

City of Gulf Shores Under Hurricane Warning, State of Emergency Declared

Gulf Shores, Ala. – In a Special City Council Meeting this morning, Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft and members of the City Council declared a State of Emergency for the City of Gulf Shores due to Tropical Storm Sally.

As of the 6 a.m., Monday, September 14, advisory issued by the National Weather Service, a Hurricane Warning, Storm Surge Warning and Flash Flood Watch are now in effect for the Coastal Baldwin County area, which includes the City Gulf Shores and the Fort Morgan Peninsula.

A Dangerous and potentially historic rainfall and flooding event is becoming likely for our area. Significant rainfall totals in the amounts of 8 to 16 inches with localized amounts of 25 inches are possible, and tropical-storm-force gusts (40-50 mph) are anticipated throughout the storm’s duration. In addition, surf height of up to 15 feet and a storm surge inundation of 4 to 6 feet is expected and subject to increase if there is a further eastward shift in Tropical Storm Sally’s track. The combination of severe weather and the projected high tide creates an extremely dangerous situation. All residents and visitors should continue to stay weather alert.

These conditions will present a high risk of deadly rip currents and coastal flooding for low-lying areas. Residents living along the Fort Morgan Peninsula, Plash Island, other low-lying areas, and those residing in mobile homes, campgrounds and RV parks should take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.

These areas include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Windmill Ridge Road
• Hwy 182
• Creekview Drive
• West 3rd Ave
• West 4th Ave
• West 5th Ave
• West 6th Ave
• West 8th Ave
• West 12th Ave
• Sunset Drive
• Hwy 59 – between Waterville and Bayou Village Bridge
• Sunrise Drive
• Minnow Lane
• West Lagoon Ave
• Sunset Drive
• Brigadoon Trail
• Lagoon Winds Drive

Some roadways are expected to become impassable due to standing water. In case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1. Do not walk, swim or drive through flood and standing waters. Remember, “Turn around, don’t drown!”
Storm preparations should begin immediately. Please take the following precautions and to continue to monitor this situation very closely:
• Pick Up Yard Debris – All yard debris should be picked up in advance of a storm, including cleaning draining ditches. Do not place any debris by roadways. If you see a drainage problem you need assistance with, please contact our Public Works Department at (251) 968-1156
• Secure Outdoor Furniture – All patio and outdoor furniture should be secured in advance of a storm.
• Know Your Elevation – You must know your elevation in order to understand if your location will be impacted by storm surge. Find your elevation online at https://www.baldwincountyal.gov/Government/a-to-z-guide/f/flood-zone-maps
• Gather Information – Keep a list of local emergency contact information. Find contact information at https://www.gulfshoresal.gov/556/Emergency-Management.
• Plan and Take Action – Be sure to have a safety plan in place for you and your family. This includes planning for essential medications, contact information, food, water and pets.

For the latest updates and advisories, continue to follow local media and the National Weather Service Mobile at https://www.weather.gov/MOB for continued updates.

The City of Gulf Shores will continue to share updates through our City’s website and our social media channels. To receive updates via email or text message, please visit www.gulfshoresal.gov and click on “Notify Me.”
