Visit Douglasville

Comments

The CAC is proud to release its new public art project, "Love Where You Live" in partnership with Visit Douglasville. With creative designs from artists, fiberglass hand-painted hearts now roam the community. These colorful, original sculptures were designed as an artistic focal point reflecting the community’s values, history, and bond.
.
.
.
The featured heart is by artist, Rachel Grant. Ms. Grant stated, "Sharing the Beauty Together” depicts the natural artistry of Douglas County’s Sweetwater Creek State Park. A rare expanse of preserved wilderness in an urban area, the park features local flora and fauna of the region, trails, camping, and fishing. The historic mill ruins feature regional history dating back to 1849 and serve as a living reminder of the social progress we continue to work towards." The artist, Rachel Grant’s family resides in Douglasville where they frequently enjoy hikes at Sweetwater. "This is a place where locals and tourists alike can enjoy the wonder of the natural surroundings, a regional jewel in the southeastern United States. Sharing the beauty of nature grows a bond in our community where you can truly love where you live."

Stay tuned to learn more about the "Hunt for Hearts" contest coming February 1st.

Mass produced items are made from the same cookie cutter. None of my scarves, earwarmers, headbands, or shawls will ever be the same. That's why I like crocheting--it allows me to be creative and find my own colors. When you buy from me, you're not going to be buying something that came over in a shipping container. You're buying something that took me hours upon hours to create. You're buying a handmade item that comes from my heart. Everyone deserves something special. Ah, that feeling of vacation bliss—when you can truly unwind, unplug and relax. ✈️🌴

For so many of us, that feeling seems like a distant memory. The pandemic has caused us to largely put vacation planning on the back burner, despite the fact that close to 8 in 10 (7️⃣9️⃣%) Americans believe vacations are important to their overall health and well-being.

This National Plan for Vacation Day, let’s do something to give ourselves a lift—ignite that spark we get from the “booking confirmation” page. 🎫

National Plan for Vacation Day is almost here! 🎉

National Plan for Vacation Day (NPVD), celebrated on the last Tuesday in January, is a day to encourage Americans to plan their vacation days for the whole year at the start of the year—
and inspire them to use those days to travel to and within the United States. This year, National Plan for Vacation Day is on January 25th!

American workers left an average of more than four days or
2️⃣9️⃣% of their paid time off on the table last year, but the majority of Americans (64%) say they desperately need a vacation. ✈️

Break free from burnout 🔥, and start planning a vacation!
