Good afternoon. Just a quick update after #Sally paid us a visit.
First, we are very fortunate that we are safe after the storm. If you have never been through a storm of this magnitude before please understand that the day(s) following is a period of assessment. Even if we cannot visibly see damage it may be present, so we need a day or 2 to be sure that the docks are safe and secure, boats are in good working condition and that seas are conducive to fishing.
Once we determine that we can fish (should be a couple days) you can rest assured we will be ready to fish š£.
Iāve received calls about the town itself and whether you should visit. Thatās not my area if expertise but please keep in mind the following: Some roads and bridges to the area are closed or have limitations. Residents and workers are the first who need to traverse these roads. Some are without power for now and there is no guarantee when power will be restored but Iām sure it will be soon. Our workers are usually very good at that. It may be difficult for stores, gas stations & restaurants to get supplies and residents and repair crews need access to these to get us back to normal (2020 normal that is) as quickly as possible.
With this in mind, though we love and appreciate your love of Destin & your business patronage, please do some due diligence before traveling to the area so you can have the best vacation. We donāt want to discourage your visit, just want you to be informed and see the best Destin possible.
