The Coyle Theatre

We have contacted The History Channel to see if they would be interested in filming a renovation. "The Curse of the Coyle" will befall this city and those involved in tearing it down.. We need to tell the story. We need to save this theatre for future generations.

The Coyle Theatre

So is there anyone, anyone, anyone that wants to save this historic treasure for the next generation ? anyone, anyone. What is wrong America ? Have any of you been to Savannah Georgia ? They have saved every building. They had the foresight to make sure everything survived. Block after block of historic restored buildings. Just stunning. Tourist flock there by the thousands. In Charleroi, PA we cannot save one of the oldest theatres in America ? Two offers on the table. . Do you really want block after block of vacant lots. It seems that might be the mission.☹️☹️

The Coyle Theatre

So down to the wire folks- Some great support on our go fund me page. We continue to talk to the building owners about purchasing the building. Keep sharing, donating and contacting supporters. The building owners have signed a demo contract. The only way to cancel the contract is to pay a cancellation fee that is pretty steep. We have asked if we can pay the cancellation fee provided we are given a contract to buy the building. Now is the time to step up corporate America and any additional investors that want to save this historic building. If we do nothing the building will be gone in a few weeks.

THANK YOU ALL .... who love the Coyle and keep hoping and praying to SAVE the Coyle!

Here's the latest update for you to know:

"MTI today made a fair offer to purchase the theatre. Ball is now in the current owners court. We hope they will accept our offer or other offers that may be on the table. Our goal is to save one of the oldest theatres in the country. We ask that you show support by sharing this story or checking out our gofund me page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-the-coyle-theatre-project or our website at https://www.thecoyletheatre.com it's all hands on deck as the demolition is very close."

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT AND CARING SUPPORT. 🙂

Continue pray that the MVA will accept the MTI offer and the Boro will work with the project moving forward!

THANK YOU, EVERYONE! Sincerely, Melanie Patterson

Demonstrators rally for — and against — the Coyle

By TAYLOR BROWN
[email protected]
The 300 block of McKean Avenue was bustling Monday afternoon with residents who want to save — and demolish — the Coyle Theater.
The push to save the Coyle was rekindled after the Mon Valley Alliance signed a demolition contract for the blighted structure last month.
The petition, started by Washington Township resident Melanie Patterson, has gained more than 1,500 signatures.
With the support of dozens of residents, Patterson took to the sidewalk in front of the theater Monday afternoon with yellow flowers and signs reading, “Honk If You Love The Coyle.” The group passed out informational flyers, shared stories and took photos.
