Officials declared Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov dead at a hospital in Ankara shortly after a gunman shot Karlov several times during the evening of Dec. 19. The attack took place soon after 1900 at the Contemporary Arts Center (Cagdas Sanatlar Merkezi) in central Ankara, where Karlov was attending an exhibit. Authorities will almost certainly impose very strict security across Ankara - especially near the Russian embassy and other Russian interests - in the wake of the assassination.

Travelers in Ankara:
Avoid the vicinity of the Contemporary Arts Center until authorities have concluded their preliminary on-site investigation and declared the area secure. If operating in Ankara, exercise increased vigilance over the upcoming days due to the potential for police activity related to the assassination.

How Booking Non-BSP Airlines Creates Inefficiency For Travel Agencies

Check out the latest article from Jay Campbell in The Company Dime where our Director of Travel Operations, Mark Weston, is interviewed along with other industry experts on the subject of non-BSP airlines: American Express GBT's new fee applies to non-global distribution system participants but also airlines that are not in billing settlement plans like ARC.

[10/18/16]   The problem impacting our partner, Sabre has been resolved. Customers should be able to access our online booking tools, or contact us for after hours support.

Hurricane Matthew

Travelers may be impacted by Hurricane Matthew, which is currently centered in the Bahamas and is expected to impact Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina over the next 4 days. Tropical Storm Warnings, Hurricane Watches, or Hurricane Warnings are posted for the entire east coast of Florida, indicating that tropical storm or hurricane conditions are forecast. These advisories could be extended northward as we get closer to the weekend. For more on the storm's potential impact, you can follow this link from the National Hurricane Center:

If your travel plans include eastern or central Florida, your travel is most likely to be impacted, and airline waivers are generally in place for travel through Friday. For travel to Georgia and the Carolinas, airline waivers are generally in place for travel through the weekend.

We are currently identifying and notifying travelers who may be impacted by Matthew. Our team will work with them to reaccomodate within the waiver guidelines. MacNair Travel will continue to monitor the progression of the hurricane and notify any additional impacted travelers.

We urge all travelers to use extreme caution when traveling in these areas and check on your trip before departing for the airport. If you haven't yet signed up for travel delay notifications through our partners at TripCase and TripIt, and/or the airline you are traveling on, now would be a good time to do that. These services ensure that travelers will be kept up to date on cancellations and delays as they occur.

We make a big deal about service excellence because we believe our people are truly special. Kindness and consideration are built into our culture but small gestures like these don't go unnoticed :) #bekind #lovewhereyouwork
