Operating as usual

Sretan Bozic! In Croatia, the gift-giving season starts December 6th, on St. Nicholas’ Day. On the eve of the 6th, good children will leave their boots out on the windowsill in the hope that St. Nicholas will bring them sweets. Those who have been naughty fear the Christmas demon, Krampus, will instead leave behind sticks so they may be disciplined by their parents.

Sending you warm, hopeful thoughts on this winter solstice. ❄

¡Feliz Navidad! Christmas in Granada, Spain, means lots of lights and color---although not necessarily on a tree. Instead of the traditional Christmas tree, nativity scenes are the main focus. Set up in shop windows and other businesses, these scenes are enjoyed by strolling shoppers. But really, wandering the streets of Granada is magical any time of year. 🌟

Joyeux Noel! Known around the world as the Capital of Christmas, the city of Strasbourg has one of the oldest Christmas markets in the world. It celebrated its 449th anniversary in 2018, dating the marketplace back to the middle ages. Visitors say that the air literally smells like gingerbread and other holiday spices. The centerpiece today is the tallest decorated Christmas tree in Europe, standing over 100 feet tall.

Feliz Navidad! In Mexico, the holiday festivities begin as early as December 12th and don’t end until January 6th. That’s almost an *entire month* dedicated just for celebrating Christmas. 🎄The main event is a tradition known as Posada, an almost nonstop party filled with lots of food, drinks, and pinatas. It all culminates in Nochebuena, Christmas Eve, a spectacular event consisting of fireworks, giant nativity scenes, and large family meals. My kind of place!

Veselé Vánoce! In what is now the modern day Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is tradition to bring a cherry tree branch indoors in the hope it will bloom, a sign of both good luck and a short winter. No one deserves to be alone during the holidays, which is why if someone lives alone, they are often invited over for a Christmas Eve dinner by their friends and family, or even just their neighbors. You'll never be lonely in Prague!

Buon Natale! Recreating the Nativity scene is an important way to celebrate Christmas for many Italians, who set up these scenes in their own homes. But let’s not forget the food! On Christmas Eve it is customary to eat a light seafood meal before going out to midnight mass, then eating a piece of Italian Christmas cake called “panettone” upon returning home. A visit to Italy is magical any time of year!

Frohe Weihnachten! Christmastime in Austria…where you can stroll the Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market), while sipping Glühwein, a warm mulled wine, eat sweet treats like gingerbread or sugar roasted almonds, and buy traditional ornaments for your tree. Add some skiing and you have the pefect Christmassy vacation! And the bucket list gets longer…

Wishing your family peace and light this holiday season.

"God Jul!" Christmas, called "jul" in Norway, actually predates Christianity in the country, and although we don't know much about how the old pagans celebrated, we know that they used to sacrifice animals and drink beer. In other words, their rituals weren't totally different from ours.

Qantas CEO says airline will require passengers traveling internationally to get COVID-19 vaccine

Will this be the way forward, fellow travelers?

Quantas has become the first airline to announce that they will REQUIRE a covid vaccine for all international travelers, once it is available to the public. I expect there will be other international carriers that will follow suit.

What say you...."Yay!" or "No way!"?

The airline's CEO said vaccines will be a "necessity" for travelers flying international.

Travelers who submit a negative COVID test prior to arriving in Hawaii no longer have to quarantine. Here's how to do it right: Introduction to the steps needed to travel to Hawai‘i.

ASTA - American Society of Travel Advisors

During a pandemic, the counsel of a good travel advisor is more essential than ever. Over the past two months, a number of advisors traveled to Cancun and other resort areas in Quintana Roo to report back to travel-hungry clients interested in planning winter trips.

Kotor, Montenegro. One of the coolest cities I've ever visited. Don't you miss exploring???

I know many aren't ready to travel again, but for those of you who may be feeling a bit "travel-curious", there is a bit of good news from Hawaii. Starting on Oct. 15, visitors will be allowed to travel to Hawaii without having to quarantine **IF** they submit a negative COVID test at least 72 hours prior to arrival.

If we are to resume traveling again, this will be our path forward, and you an expect similar measures in the future for other destinations as well. For those with serious wanderlust...a bit of optimism today. ☀️

We are all trying to think outside the box for safe vacation ideas. A cozy covered wagon resort certainly fits the bill!

National parks are where it's at this summer and fall. This was our first visit to @shenandoahnps, and it did not disappoint! It was also our pup Riley's first hike. 🐕

But I hope you are all having a fun Saturday, wherever you are!

The general Level 4 travel advisory has been lifted for international travel, replaced with country-specific guidelines. Be sure to check before planning to travel because **most countries remain heavily restricted**. And I'm always here and happy to offer assistance. #safetravels #keepdreamingyourtraveldreams #plannowtravellater

The Global Level 4 Health Advisory is no longer in effect, but we still maintain Travel Advisory levels for each individual country. Research your destination thoroughly before you travel:

Thinking today of all of my clients, past and present, who had to cancel or postpone their trips this year. It's been disappointing, and a bit heart-breaking, and I miss brainstorming with you! Keep dreaming about future adventures, and you'll be back out there soon!
