The Orleans County 4-H Fair is a program of the Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension
Augmented Reality posters arrived, just sharing a part of one because of Dairy Month! #ageducation
Fair entries are now closed. We have lots of sorting to do! Thank you to the families who deal with the paperwork to make sure 4-Hers have an awesome fair experience.
Thank you to the volunteers who taught our clinic and the 4-H families who came out today!
Showmanship clinic starts in 20 minutes. Lots of our exhibitors will be here to learn about prepping for their shows at fair.
Just a reminder fair entries are due on June 1. Poultry in July 1. Stop in, call, email and we'll do everything we can to help fill them out. We can also help during tommorow's livestock clinic from 10-12.
We don't want entries to be a source of stress, but we do need them in on time.
One of our favorite non-fair activities is conservation field days. All of the county's sixth graders learn about birds of prey, sturgeon, wild edible plants, hunting, green energy, and much more. Today we also planted the Johnny Appleseed tree donated by Eric Andrews who spent the day leading a session on history and historical plants.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orleans County has loved being part of this year's United Way of Orleans County Day of Caring. The volunteers here built raised beds for a garden project this summer, planted elderberry bushes, and mulched the pie tin garden.

Orleans County Soil and Water Conservation District has kicked off the annual seedling pre-order. Don't miss out.
Spring certainly seems far away, but we’ve got some good news: it’s already time to get prepared! 🌱🌸
Local Soil & Water Conservation Districts are now taking orders for bare root seedlings, transplants, deciduous trees, bushes, shrubs, and fruit trees – not to mention wildflower seeds, bluebird nesting boxes, rain barrels, planting accessories, and more.
The plants are grown by local nurseries, and are an affordable source of conservation landscaping materials for windbreaks and erosion control. And, many of them are native species which will adapt to local soil types and contribute to our natural ecosystem.
Plan for the warm weather, and help your environment! Contact your local Soil & Water Conservation District to learn more and find a sale near you: https://www.nys-soilandwater.org/contacts/county_offices.html
