Glad we had the chance to take this tour. Colin was a great tour guide! It was a nice night with awesome tales of old Albany. It was enjoyable and informative.
There’s something about Halloween and this time of year that makes me really want to watch horror movies. The other day, I decided to watch Bad Blood: The Movie, and I still can’t believe how freaky this movie is. It’s grotesque, gory, graphic, and terrifying. I’m still a little spooked from the monster in this movie. I’ve never seen a horror movie like this before, it’s a mix between body horror and monster movie, and it definitely works. I loved every spooky, frightening moment of this film, and anyone who loves horror needs to watch this. It’s now on VOD, just in time to watch for Halloween ttp://geni.us/BADBLOODTHEMOVIE

The Ghosts of Albany tour is narrated by passionate experts who like the dark corners; we are a spooky, beautiful ocean breeze fueled walk into the unexplained spiritual realm of the most unusual island there is.

We only have a few spaces left for our haunted walks before we depart for the season!

Popular Questions:

Did the Flying Dutchman make it all the way to Albany?
It was noised about New Amsterdam, in the days of Governor Peter Stuyvesant of yore, that a round and bulky ship flying Dutch colors from her lofty quarter was careening up the harbor in the teeth of a north wind, through the swift waters of an ebbing tide, and making for the Hudson. A signal from the Battery to heave to and account for herself being disregarded, a cannon was trained upon her, and a ball went whistling through her cloudy and imponderable mass, for timbers she had none.
Some of the sailor-folk talked of mirages that rose into the air of northern coasts and seas, but the wise ones put their fingers beside their noses and called to memory the Flying Dutchman, that wanderer of the seas whose captain, having sworn that he would round Cape Horn in spite of heaven and hell, has been beating to and fro along the bleak coast and elsewhere for centuries, being allowed to land but once in seven years, when he can break the curse if he finds a girl who will love him.
Perhaps Captain Vanderdecken hoped he could land in some Dutch settlement on the Hudson; or perhaps he expiated his rashness by prayer and penitence; howbeit, he never came down again, unless he slipped away to sea in snow or fog so dense that watchers and boatmen saw nothing of his passing.
A few old settlers declared the vessel to be the Half Moon, and there were some who testified to seeing that identical ship with Henry Hudson and his specter crew on board making for the Catskills to hold a carouse and some point their ship could be spotted dropping anchor between the Tappan Zee Bridge and Albany

In the end, I wish you good luck in spotting the flying Dutchman.!

Happy Haunting!

Ghosts of Scary DC Blog 23 Senator Harry Truman on the Job © 2019 by Dr. Philip Ernest Schoenberg, Ghost with a Blog #ghosts
Senator Harry S Truman was such a hard worker that he set a demanding pace that few subordinates could match. Senator Truman arrived at the Capitol so early that the cleaning staff gave him own set of keys so he could get into the building. Secret Servicemen found it hard to keep up with his “constitutionals” as he called his walks when he became president.
Harry Truman had been first elected Senator in 1934. Politicians and people alike were surprised to find that he was not “the man from Pendergast” because he made his own decisions instead of being the puppet of the Kansas City political boss. When Tom Pendergast died in disgrace, convicted of income tax evasion, President Truman showed up at his funeral as a sign of respect and gratitude despite the abundant criticism at the time. When he ran for re-election in 1940, he was so short of funds, he had to sleep in a car overnight at times. Despite President Franklin Roosevelt endorsing his opponent in the Democratic primary, he won the election. He was even more surprised when President Roosevelt asked him to be his vice presidential running mate in 1944.
To Truman’s great surprise, he succeeded Roosevelt as president upon his death. To the surprise of the pollsters, Truman won the election in his own right in 1948. He retired as a very unpopular president but since his popularity has come back.

Ghosts of NYC Blog 22 Theodosia Burr, Ghost of Two Cities © 2017 By Dr. Philip Ernest Schoenberg, Ghost with a Blog #Ghosts

One of the most intriguing stories in Charleston, South Carolina is the mysterious disappearance of Theodosia Burr Alston, daughter of former Vice President of the United States Aaron Burr. She was married to Governor Joseph Alston, one of the most wealthy and powerful men in South Carolina in his day. The deed in her name to 94 Church Street still hangs in the hall in that house. In 1812 Theodosia decided to visit her father to receive comfort from the recent loss of a child. She was on a ship that went down off the coast of North Carolina. The bodies of all the others lost at sea washed up, but hers was never found. Many years later when the estate of an old woman who lived on the North Carolina coast was sold, a portrait of her as a young woman turned out to look exactly like Theodosia. Charlestonians have their own theory of what happened to Theodosia. Was she kidnapped by an enemy of her father or an enemy of her husband? Did she walk the plank when captured by pirates? Did she have amnesia? Did she run away? What do you think?

Or did she become a ghost at One if by Land, Two if by Sea Restaurant at 17 Barrow Street in Greenwich Village? It has appeared that Theodosia has joined her father Aaron Burr who smashes dishes and moves chairs at his carriage house, which is now a restaurant. The ghost of Aaron Burr, vice president of the United States who is famous for killing Alexander Hamilton in a duel, haunts this restaurant located in what was once his carriage house. Many visitors and restaurant employees have observed flying dishes and chairs being pulled out from under patrons. Burr's daughter, Theodosia Burr Alston, is also rumored to haunt the carriage house. Female patrons at the bar are rumored to have had their earrings removed by Theodosia. Apparitions of Theodosia and various other spirits have actually been seen and several women sitting at the bar have had their earrings popped off by an enamored Theodosia. She’s been seen descending the dining-room staircase. One female witness recalled, “When my foot touched that first step it felt like I was walking on ice—it knocked the wind out of me.”
