Bangkok Post Infographic: The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has tightened its controls, especially in six maximum- and strict-control provinces (dark red zones), to deal with the latest wave of Covid-19 infections.
📌 If I may, I would like to add a few notes to the restrictions mentioned here. In the declaration published in the Royal Gazette last night, it didn’t mention the word 100% for work from home. It’s a request to reduce the number of people coming in to work. Up to the company how they do that. For example, work on alternate days, was one of the suggestions.
We have confirmed reports of checkpoints going up today in the Chonburi area checking people for traveling. The overall message right now from officials is simple...Stay home unless your trip is absolutely critical and essential. What they deem critical may not be what you do as we have reports of people being turned around. You will need to get permission to leave Chonburi at local jurisdictions or city hall.
People don't need permission to come to Chonburi but are being discouraged from doing so and can also be interviewed on why they wish to come. If it is deemed non essential once again you could be refused. Officials have warned people hiding their reasons or trying to skirt checkpoints could face draconian emergency decree laws.
The overall message right now is do not travel and stay home. To be clear, there is not concern with traveling within Chonburi province but primarily inter provincial, however, you may still have to go through Checkpoints and as they are "requesting" people to stay home you may be asked why your trip is essential.
The Ministry of Public Health will open registration for COVID-19 vaccination for citizens over 60 years of age and with seven chronic illnesses via the Mor Prom LINE account this May 1, estimating 16 million people will be eligible.
Hospitals across the nation have uploaded their lists of senior citizens and patients with chronic illnesses to the Mor Prom system in preparation for registration starting this May 1. Registrants will be able to do so using the LINE application and will have to input their 13-digit identification number and their preferred vaccination time before selecting their preferred hospital or department store.
The system will allow for registration on behalf of family members or individuals may register in person at their nearest hospital, with their area health volunteer or by phone.
The registration system has been prepped to handle five times the estimated number of users of 20,000 per second and has been streamlined to speed up the process.
Hospitals have uploaded 16 targeted names. Those who do not find their names in the system will not be able to register.
The Ministry of Public Health has prepared over 1,000 locations nationwide to carry out vaccination including areas outside of hospitals such as public pavilions and sports arena. Fourteen locations outside of hospital have been provided by the private sector in Bankgok, including at SCG Bang Sue, Central Ladprao, The Mall Bangkapi, Robinson Ladkrabang, Lotus Minburi, Siam Mid Town, True Digital Park Thanya Park, Central Pinklao, ICONSIAM, PTT Station Rama 2, The Mall Bangkae and Big C Bang Bon.
Astra-Zeneca vaccines will begin being administered in June to 11.7 million senior citizens above the age of 60 and to 4.3 million people with seven chronic illnesses.
The groups were chosen to reduce the fatality rate and severe illness rate of infections.

A Cabinet meeting next week will consider approving a special tourist visa for foreigners who wish to enter Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Yuthasak Supasorn said.
Plans to allow foreign tourists in must take into account the balance between public health safety, consent from local residents and income by the tourism sector, which accounts for 20 per cent of gross domestic product, he said.
The Association of Thai Travel Agents previously suggested allowing in tourists from cities or countries at low risk of COVID-19 without any quarantine. Most recently, TAT drafted guidelines, waiting for Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to discuss the matter with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Foreign tourists are expected to return to Thailand in the second quarter of 2021 (April-June) due to the likely development of a COVID-19 vaccine, Yuthasak added.TAT expects a rebound in tourist numbers from Northeast Asia and Asean in the near term. It hopes to attract approximately 16.7 million visitors from the Asia-Pacific region and 3.8 million visitors from Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

Regarding a news article that's been going around about "unlimited 30 day extensions":
There are rumors that tourists can get "unlimited 30 day extensions". This started from a newspaper article that's being shared on social media.
*IF* you entered on a tourist visa, transit visa, or a visa on arrival, you *CAN* get unlimited 30 day extension on the amnesty based on medical treatment, for as long as your medical treatment is valid. This requires proof that you *CAN NOT* travel. You need to go through the process to get a 30 day extension of amnesty every 30 days. Getting this extension of the amnesty is not easy.
*IF* you entered on a tourist visa, transit visa, or a visa on arrival, you *CAN* get unlimited 30 day extension on the amnesty based on a COVID-19 outbreak, or because of the lack of flights back to your home country. This requires a letter from your embassy, which then must be approved by the immigration office. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I received *NO* reports that ANYONE got this extension.
Both types of extensions will cost 1,900THB for each 30 days.
