The community-based eco-tourism management(CBT)model/approach of Ban Mae Klang Luang and of the network in the other 3 villages is through the "Community-based Eco-tourism Club." The CBT Committee is set up in each of the 4 villages; i.e., Ban Mae Klang Luang, Ban Paa mon, Ban Nong Lom, and Ban Ang Kaa Noi. The CBT Club is operated as cooperatives, which community members are the share holders and receive dividends yearly. All of these communities offer a wide range of eco-tourism activities. These include indigenous museum, nature learning tour through trekking along nature trial, a home-stay service, bird watch in its natural habitat through the application of local wisdom of Pa Paa Ka Yor (ethnic language of Karen). The network had also established necessary ground rules for both the tourists and the villagers to observe. Mae Klang Luang is situated on the way to Doi Intanon, just before reaching its peak. A view of the terraced hillside of this village is so magnificent that the tourists cannot resist stopping the car to get a full view or to take photos of the beautiful scenery. As accommodation facilities in Doi Intanon National Park became increasingly crowded with Thai visitors, particularly during holiday seasons or during the transition period of season change from rainy season to cold season. Reservations for accommodations can be made only through the CBT members and shareholders. The learning processes of eco-tourism management involve the following steps: 1) Development of knowledge in eco-tourism; 2) Analysis of potentials in eco-tourism development, and preparation of work plan and development approaches; 3) Community preparation for eco-tourism development processes; 4) Implementation of eco-tourism development activities/processes; 5) Monitoring and evaluation of community-based eco-tourism management and operations in the community; 6) Revising and making adjustment for further development. All of these steps make the whole development cycle, from initial development to adjustment and improvement for further development according to the most current situation of eco-tourism in each community. Most importantly, community members must be involved in each and every step of its development, management, and operations.
