Known as "the city of a thousand and one churches," the now deserted town of Ani was once a thriving Armenian capital and cosmopolitan center of trade and artistic exchange on the Silk Road. In our latest release, Dr. Christina Maranci reviews the history of Ani’s rise and fall through the Middle Ages and why it remains central to Armenian identity today.

Everyone knows that Armenians are some of the most beautiful in the world, both inside and out. Today, ASP group presents it by using the traditional Armenian taraz.

St. James Armenian Church

What a day filled with perfect weather and majestic views!

We started our long journey early in the morning, with a spectacular crystal-clear view of Mount Ararat on our way to Khor Virap Monastery (the site of the underground pit of St.Gregory the Illuminator). We then traveled into the depths of the red tuf stone mountains to see the Norvank Monastery complex.

After lunch in Noravank, we continued on south and went airborne, boarding the Wings of Tatev
- the longest aerial tramway in the world. We soared high over the incredible Vorotan River Gorge to arrive at the breathtaking Tatev Monastery complex, nestled at the top of a plateau. Tatev Monastery was founded in the 4th century, then becoming an important religious and educational center of medieval Armenia in the 9th-10th centuries.

More adventures to come tomorrow!

St. James Armenian Church

Today our group traveled to Gyumri - Armenia's second largest city and site of the devastating earthquake in 1988. We spent time sightseeing in Armenia's cultural capital, and visited the Debi Arach Children's Center, which aims to impact the lives of hundreds of socially vulnerable children and youth by helping them gain the guidance and support they need in order to create greater future opportunities, and
become successful individuals and good
citizens.

We spent time volunteering at Debi Arach - painting classrooms, distributing toothbrushes and supplies to the children, and fitting them with Toms shoe donations for their growing feet. It was rewarding to play a small role in giving back to our homeland.

The Paros Foundation

Our Service Armenia group hard at work renovating The Talin School of Music!

The town of Talin, with a population of about 5,400 people, is located in the Aragatsotn Region of Armenia and is considered one of the oldest residential areas of the region. Currently, Talin houses a music school in a building in poor condition without any proper practice or performance spaces for its 120 students and 15 teachers. The building lacks access to proper health and safety standards and severely limits the school's dedicated staff from doing their jobs. These horrible conditions also prevent the students' ability to learn. The town of Talin is in need of a modernized school, offering a safe, comfortable and appropriate environment to study and teach classical and folk instruments and music.

This particular project is still active and is in need of funds to be completed. Use the link to learn more about this important project and how you can get involved!

The voice of an ANGEL 🙏🏻😇

The mountains of Ararat are where Noah’s Ark landed, after all, according to the Book of Genesis, thus affording Mount Masis – the Armenian name used alongside Ararat – a holy status.

"A flock without the shepherd lost and knocked down... Invisible but rough surges shake the miserable history of the life of my people. The callous hunters have caught the naive fish in their net. The atmosphere is filled with poison. There is no escape. My heart is broken..."
