The Cut is a 2014 German drama film directed by Fatih Akın. The film is based on the Armenian Genocide. A young man by the name of Nazareth Manoogian gets deported from his native village of Mardin. In 1915 a man survives the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, but loses his family, speech and faith. After the deportations, Manoogian learns that his daughters may be alive. He travels to various parts of the world in search for them.

Military Museum Mother Armenia

The Mother Armenia monument is a monumental statue in Victory Park overlooking the capital city of Yerevan. When first built, it was a military museum containing exhibits about World War II. Now a large proportion of the exhibition space is devoted to the Nagorno-Karabakh War. The 23 meter high statue represents a female warrior armed with a sword, overlooking the entire city. The Grave of the Unknown Soldier, next to the monument, symbolizes the eternal memory in which those who died in the war are held.

Flora Martirosyan

Flora Martirosyan was an Armenian folk singer, born in Leninakan (now Gyumri), to a family of an athlete and a housewife. She inherited her vocal skills from her mother. Martirosyan studied at the Gyumri Musical School. Martirosyan won her first international award in the Hamburg International Festival in 1978. The song Tsovastghik (author: Gusan Ashot) which brought the singer a great fame, was recognized as a top song for 15 years. Martirosyan performed guest concerts in over 60 countries around the world. In 2007, she established the Artists for Peace Chartity Foundation which attracted a large number of world-renowned singers and Hollywood superstars who joined under the slogan "Never Again" to raise their voice of protest against genocides.Flora Martirosyan died on November 20. 2012, buried in Yerevan's Komitas City Pantheon on December 12 2012.

Soghomon Soghomonian, commonly known as Komitas, was an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, arranger, singer, and choirmaster, who is considered the founder of Armenian national school of music. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of ethnomusicology.

Gata Gata or Katah is an Armenian pastry or sweet bread, similar to a coffee cake. There are many variations of gata and typically specific towns or regions will have their own version. It can be found in a variety of shapes, sizes and may be decorated or left unadorned. The bread is often baked to coincide with the feast of Candlemas, known as Tiarn'ndaraj in Armenian. One popular variety is gata with koritz, a filling that consists of flour, butter and sugar. Gata can have other fillings such as nuts, most commonly walnuts. Some variations include placing a coin inside the dough before the gata is baked, and it is said that whoever receives the piece with the coin is to be blessed with good fortune. Gata from the villages of Garni and Geghard are decorated round, and generally about a foot in diameter. Around the southern edge of Lake Sevan, in the town of Tsovinar, gata is denser and sweeter, and baked without koritz in a triangular shape without decoration.

Tsaghkadzor

Tsaghkadzor, is a spa town and a popular health resort in Armenia, located north of the capital Yerevan in the Kotayk Province. Tsaghkadzor was known as Tsaghkunyats Dzor during the medieval period. Tsaghkadzor is located 60 kilometers north of the capital Yerevan, the town is situated on the southeastern slope of the Teghenis Mountains, at a height of 1841 meters above sea level, the population of the town is 1,700. During the Soviet era, Tsaghkadzor has been developed as a major spa town and health resort, intending to attract a large number of tourists. With the foundation of many luxurious hotels and sanatoriums, the town became a major winter resort attracting large numbers of ski and snowboard enthusiasts from all over the world. It is one of the main destinations of the visitors of Armenia.

Город расположен в живописной долине на юго-восточной части Цахкунийских гор на высоте около 1841 метров над уровнем моря. Город составляет 1700 население . В Цахкадзоре распространён экологический туризм, в советские времена этот город был на пике своей популярности. Есть много роскошных отелей и санаторией, город стал крупным зимним курортом. Цахкадзор привлекает сборные армянских, российских и других спортсменов. В основном это лыжники, пловцы, тяжёлоатлеты и множество других профессионально занимающихся спортом людей. Цахкадзор популярное место как для зимнего, так и для летнего туризма. В городе и его окрестностях имеется целый ряд гостиниц.

T'tu lavash or sour-lavash, is a type of fruit leather made from local varieties of apricots, prunes, cherries or apples. It is made in the regions of Tegarkunik, Kotajk and Ararat, around central Armenia. To make the t'tu lavash, a marmalade of fruit is prepared without adding sugar or water. It is cooked for a long time until it becomes creamy. Then, it is spread onto a piece of wood and left to dry in the sun. The taste can be either sweet or rather sour, particularly if it was made using prunes.

Akhtala Monastery:Walls of Surb Astvatsatsin Church

The walls of St. Astvatsatsin church are covered with the beautiful, well-conserved frescoes. The murals of the church are what momentarily grasp attention. They were made after the church was converted into Chalcedonic. Notably, the colorings are characteristic of Byzantine art, whereas the thematic solutions are Armenian.

Geghard - Medieval Armenian Monastery.

It is one of the most popular places in Armenia, located in the Kotayk province. Geghard was founded in the 4th century, but the main cathedral was built in 1215. Geghard Monastery is surrounded by high walls on three sides and the mountain on the fourth. You can enter the churches which are interconnected. There is some water in a small pond stream in one chamber carved into the mountain, and the acoustics are great throughout. There are many caves around the monastery complex.
