Saghmosavank is located in the eastern part of Sagmosvan village, Aragatsotn region.
According to the legend, Gregory, the Illuminator, was the founder of the church. They say that Saint Gregory saw this place from the slopes of Mount Aragats and decided to build a church there. Later he taught psalms to clergymen in Saghmosavanq. “Saghmos” is an Armenian word for psalm - a spiritual song or lyric poetry.

Haghartsin Monastery complex was founded by Bagratunies, in the 10th century. It is located in Dilijan town, Tavush Region. According to historian Kirakos Gandzaketsi the monastery was built in the 10th -13th century. It includes four churches Saint Grigor(1244), Saint Astvatsatsin (1281), Saint Katoghike(12th century) and Saint Stephanos(1232), two courtyards, refectory, prayer halls and khachkars(cross-stones).

Sevanavank monastery is located on the peninsula of Lake Sevan. The first church of the monastery was built by Gregory the Illuminator in 305. After the adoption of Christianity as a state religion by King Trdat III in 301, Christian churches started to be built all over the country. Thus St. Harutyun and St. Karapet churches built by Gregory the Illuminator on the island of Sevan were one of the first Christian religious buildings in Armenia.

Sevanavank is also known as “Mariamashen” i.e. “built by Mariam”, as according to an inscription on one of the churches, the monastery of Sevanavank was founded by Princess Mariam in 874.

Geghard Monastery was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 and is one of only four such sites in the country.
According to a legend, a sister and a brother from a noble family decided to build a temple higher up the gorge of Azat River and live there. But, they were undecided where exactly to build it and asked for the God’s help. They waited for a sign, and one morning saw that their hoe was stuck on top of the mountain. That was the sign.
