Land Art Andorra

The Andorran artist, Mònica Armengol, will participate at the Andorra #LandArt 1st biennial with a typical installation from our country: The “andà”, a traditional wooden building used for stockbreeding in AndorraWorld and the Pyrenees, that was used to control the movements of the sheep, but was also used to close meadows and farmlands entrances. Today, the woods “andans” are no longer used in farming and stockbreeding since modernization has brought the disappearance of the traditional craft techniques. Although the “andà” is a very common element for andorran farmers, it is rare to find one intact in our environment nowadays.

"Memory of a rural tool" answers to the need of working about space, border limits, and to experience how these interact with the viewer. Joan Gil Gregorio wrote about the “Andans” installation made in 2009 on the same subject: "The artist lives and humanizes a space, marking a particular fragment in an appropriation that defines a new visual and physical space".

It seeks to break the front relationship of contemplation, gives the public the chance to choose the direction of the gaze, the relationship of proximity or distance with the work, the point of view, and even to enter into the work, to inhabit it, to get involved in it as an integral part. The public is actor, not viewer.

Since 1980, Environmental Art / Stuart Williams has been focused on monumental-scale, outdoor installations. Project locations have ranged from dense urban centers, to pristine natural landscapes. His monumental environmental art installations have been critically acclaimed around the globe.

“Five Orange Spheres” is a traveling installation spanned a time period of two and a half years, and included urban and rural sites across the U.S. and Europe. The project was published in LIFE Magazine and in journals in France, Italy and Germany. Next stop AndorraWorld!

Al Restaurant L'Era D'en Jaume reina la cuina casolana reinterpretada amb talent pel xef Pep Ramos. El seu menú degustació #AndorraTaula n’és una mostra ben clara. Uns senzills calamarcets esdevenen un plat gourmet al farcir-los de botifarra negra del país i acompanyar-los d’uns pèsols estofats.
